Poecilotheria regalis is one of the most popular of the Poecilotheria species. This tarantula has beautiful black and white contrast with a metallic purple sheen. It is one of the only tarantulas with a ventral stripe, a white band across its black underside.

The Orange Baboon Tarantula or "OBT" is a fierce and colorful Old-world known for it's comically bad attitude. Adults will often hold their ground and attempt to scare off intruders with it's threat display of rearing up on it's back legs, smacking the ground and "hissing." Spiderlings are skittish and not yet showing defensive behavior. The one and only "OBT" is in my top 5 favorite tarantula species.
