Rarely available in the hobby this baboon species is beautiful. Pictured is one of the spiderlings available. They're not yet showing that striking and unique adult color. The Mozambique Baboon are known to be one of the calmest of the Baboon Tarantulas and would make a good starter Old World species.

Also known as the Peru Purple, Avicularia urticans can reach lengths of over 6 inches in legspan. They have a gorgeous purple sheen that is difficult to capture on camera. This docile yet skittish species is not usually aggressive and is a good beginner arboreal for an attentive keeper. This female is showing full adult color.

Brachypelma smithi is the "Hobby classic tarantula". Coveted by beginners and experienced keepers alike, B. smithi is one of my personal favorites. Known for being large, colorful and docile this scrub-land species is extremely hardy. Females can live to be older than 30 years. These spiderlings were captive-bred here at Jamie's Tarantulas.
